In Person only: Shamatha-Mindfulness Practice in the Mahamudra Tradition

We are delighted to announce that Khenpo Karma Tenkyong is visiting Halifax and has agreed to give a talk on the outer, inner and secret guru principle to Vajrayana students who have received pointing-out instructions from a recognized vajrayana lineage holder.

Khenpo began his monastic training at a young age. In 2002, he completed the 11-year program in Buddhist Philosophy at Karma Shri Nalanda Institute in Rumtek, Sikkim, earning the degree of Acharya, and was appointed Khenpo by HH the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa.

From 2003 to 2014, Khenpo worked in the Karmapa’s administration, and in 2014 Khenpo was sent to the Karmapa’s main monastery in North America, Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (KTD) in Woodstock, New York, where he served as president of KTD and resident teacher from 2015 to 2018, and serves as resident teacher of KTD and its centers, offering teachings and guidance to their centers, from 2018 until now.

In addition, Khenpo will also give the following two additional talks at KCCL and HSC, which are, however, “in person only” events:

  • Friday, August 18, starting at 10am: Shamatha-Mindfulness Practice in the Mahamudra Tradition. Location: KCCL. Open to everyone.
  • Saturday, August 19, starting at 7pm: “Outer, Inner and Secret Guru Principle”. Location: HSC. Only open to Ngöndro students and sadhakas.
